The Corporation currently has 85 employees with all but 12 located at the headquarters in Asmara. Five employees are located in Massawa with another seven operating out of the Assab office. The breakdown of employees per branch is as per the following table:

Despite an acute labour shortage in the country, NICE has been able to obtain and retain qualified staff members.  Educational qualifications of staff can be found in the following table:

NICE encourages its staff members, its agents and staff from the Bank of Eritrea as supervisors to the industry, to participate in the insurance qualification programme from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London.    Eritrea is in fact a testing center for this examination programme. NICE to date has had 15 (36 in the industry as a whole) staff qualify for the first certificate level, the Insurance Foundation Certificate. Four staff (seven within the industry) have obtained the second certificate level, the Certificate of Insurance Practice.  Seven other persons within the industry are currently studying to obtain the CIF level. The objective of NICE is to have as many qualified insurance practitioners with a Fellowship from the Chartered Insurance Institute working within the industry as possible.  The Chartered Insurance Institute is an internationally recognized insurance professional designation programme.

Non-management staff (those who do not report directly to the General Manager) belong to a labour union which has a collective bargaining agreement with NICE. Pertinent highlights of the collective bargaining agreement include:

1.The Corporation undertakes to preserve health, welfare and other rights of employees;

2.The Corporation pays for scholarships awarded to employees along with full salary for six months and half salary for the following six months;

3.Personal accident insurance with 24 hour cover;

4.Group life insurance coverage; and

5.Provident Fund membership with 13% and 7% contribution from the employer and employee respectively.
